And the tree total to date is…

July 1st, 2008 by Suzanne Norman

Emma plants five trees for every customer who chooses us for their email marketing campaigns. With June behind us, we’re officially halfway through 2008, the year we set out to plant a tree for every new customer who joins Emma. I’m pleased to announce that we’ve planted a whopping 10,855 trees so far this year, with the latest batch from June on their way to Wisconsin soil to find a home.

Of course, now it’s July, and that means it’s time to vote on a new location for half of this month’s trees. Remember, the other half goes to the equatorial region of Plant-It 2020’s choice (they’re our fabulous partner in all this tree planting business). Also, remember that the states we ask you to vote on come from Plant-It 2020’s list of pre-approved non-harvest sites - it’s not that we’re biased toward states like Wisconsin, although few Emma staffers would turn down a lovely aged white cheddar. Anyway, take a moment and tell us where you’d like to send some trees…

Where should July’s trees be planted?

  • Florida (38%, 19 Votes)
  • Rhode Island (22%, 11 Votes)
  • Colorado (22%, 11 Votes)
  • Washington (state) (18%, 9 Votes)

Total Voters: 50

It would be nice that the trees be planted in the State of the new client. What do you think?

  2. Suzanne Norman Says:

    Hey Deboraha,

That’s a lovely idea. Plant-It 2020 has a list of pre-approved planting locations, and not every state is represented, so we wouldn’t be able to get that specific. The quick poll is our way of letting all our new folks have a little more input in where their trees are heading. Thanks for yours!

    Hi Pat & Tim,

I love your idea to plant more trees in Greensburg, Kansas. Our program is limited to the sites that Plant-It 2020 predetermines as non-harvest locations, but there are great organizations that will let you purchase seedlings for a reasonable price and plant them wherever you like. Good luck!

[…] What Bay Books is doing is something that really draws me in, and makes me feel like I can be a part of their shop. And this goes for any company or organization, online *or* offline. Emma tries to do this by giving all of you reading this (yes, you, in front of your computer right now. Nice shirt, by the way.) the chance to choose where we’re going to plant trees every month. Through a partnership with the reforestation non-profit, Plant-It 2020, we plant 5 trees for every new Emma account. So, since you’re here, won’t you take a moment to get involved with Emma and tell us where we should plant our July trees? […]
